From the place where your international flight sets you down on the main island of Rarotonga, you are only minutes from some of the most beautiful white sand beaches around! Rarotonga is encircled by a fringing reef, and this ensures that almost the entire island has a great white sand beach.
Some of the best is at Muri Beach, where several small offshore islets have created a fine turquoise lagoon. However, for sunsets, head for the opposite side of Rarotonga. Rarotonga is not a large island, of course, so no matter where you stay you will never be too far away from wonderful sunrises and sunsets! In some places around Rarotonga, the beach is a little coarse with the white coral. However, many of the resorts and small lodge accommodations rake their beaches so that you may relax in pure comfort!
When you are investigating the many great accommodation options, if a beach on your doorstep is important to you, make sure you ask at the time of booking. Some places may be a short walk, or even a short boat ride to get you to that sandy paradise.
